Quisha Wint
This phenomenal and expressive vocalist proves that you can live out your dreams through inspiring others. Quisha Wint is an accomplished songstress/performer/arranger/songwriter who was born to sing and entertain. She grew up in a Jamaican home listening to Reggae, Motown, Gospel, R&B, then expanded to jazz when she entered the well-known jazz program at Humber College in the mid ’90s.
Since then, Quisha has sung in many parts of Asia, Europe, North America, and Caribbean, leaving her audiences applauding and wanting more of this dynamic performer. As one of Toronto’s sought-after session vocalists, Quisha is a rising star in the tight-knit music industry thanks to her bright personality and strong emotive vocal abilities. A career highlight was when Quisha was asked to sing with Jane Siberry on her hit song “Calling All Angels” in the 2000 film “Pay It Forward” which stared Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment.
In 2003, Quisha made it all the way to the Top 30 finalists of Canadian Idol’s first season and shortly after received a phone call from Jacksoul’s lead singer, the late Haydain Neale, to become his new backup vocalist. While on the road with Jacksoul, fans embraced her as her energy swept through the sold-out crowds. Quisha has also sung backgrounds for top Matt Dusk, Maestro and Snow, and currently tours with Johnny Reid. This beautiful and talented artist is a breath of fresh air in an industry over-saturated with pop culture. Quisha’s voice is mesmerizing and captures the soulful sounds of the legendary artists Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, and Aretha Franklin who’ve paved the way before her.
Lance Anderson
Juno Award winning producer, Lance Anderson returns once again to reprise his role as musical arranger/director behind Mariposa Folk Festival’s annual Blues & Gospel Show Feb 2022. Orillia resident Anderson has a bucketful of musical accolades, including his sold-out shows all over Ontario - The Last Waltz - The Music of The Band; Mad Dogs and Englishmen - The Music of Joe Cocker and Leon Russell; Genius + Soul = The Music of Ray Charles and his theatrical presentation Oscar Peterson - The Jazz Legend and the Man I Knew. Add to that, his orchestral work that he scored which premiered with the Okanagan Symphony and Ballet Kelowna based on Oscar Peterson’s ‘Canadiana Suite’ won accolades.
Lance also toured the festival circuit in both Canada and the U. S. with Ms. S’Aida and wrote three symphonic shows for her that have been performed by the Toronto Symphony, Kitchener Symphony, Kamloops Symphony and Oct 2021 the Windsor Symphony.
Anderson also has played on numerous recordings including artists like Shakura S’Aida, FATHEAD, 2B3 The Toronto Sessions, Morgan Davis, Shawn Kellerman and many others. The MATCHEDASH PARISH is a 12 piece ensemble that Lance and Matt Weidinger put together in 2018. their critically acclaimed recording ‘Saturday Night’ has received award nominations, and national airplay on CBC Saturday Night Blues and jazz.fm's ‘Gumbo Kitchen and has spent more than a year on the Blues Radio charts. They were nominated as ‘New Artists of the Year’ at the 2020 Maple Blues Awards. Anderson, who has been performing 44 years, won the 2014 Maple Blues Award for Piano/Keyboard Player of the Year.
In 2015, Anderson and Kelly Peterson, widow of the late Oscar Peterson, co-produced a three-CD set of Oscar Peterson classics entitled, Oscar, with Love. World-class pianists who contributed to the CD included Chick Corea, Ramsey Lewis, Michel Legrand, Monty Alexander, Oliver Jones, Kenny Barron, and more. Anderson performed ‘Sir Lancewell’ a composition written for him by the jazz legend.
