Event Description
Debbie Fleming Sings Songs from the 1960’s

with Stu Harrison on piano.

Enjoy songs made famous by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Etta James, Julie London, Petula Clark and others.

Multiple award winner, and former Juno Nominee, Debbie Fleming has enjoyed a very successful career as one of Toronto’s busiest session singers!

She has sung hundreds of commercial jingles; added her voice to backup vocals with everyone from Anne Murray, David Clayton Thomas, Engelbert Humperdink, AlanJackson – to Petula Clark.  She was the go-to girl for TV shows in the 80s – The Ronnie Prophet Show, Tommy Hunter, Stars on Ice, Circus, The Junos, Sesame Streetand many more.

Other hats Debbie wears are as a record producer, songwriter, guitarist, ukulele player, as well as a noted vocal and instrumental arranger.  Debbie’s songs and arrangements have been sung by choirs throughout the world, and she arranges songs regularly for Toronto trio The Ault Sisters, and for her own acappella quartet the Hampton Avenue, with whom she recently performed at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.  In 2019, she was awarded the Slaight Legacy award for her contribution to vocal arts in Canada.

She has released and produced many recordings – her latest, released in 2016

“Back to Bacharach: Full Circle” – a tribute CD consisting of all songs by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, one of the most prolific writing teams of the 20thcentury.  With songs such as Alfie, Close to You, What the World Needs Now, this recording has garnered accolades and great support on radio across Canada.

Debbie is in demand for her solo shows, as she accompanies herself on guitar, uke and piano.  She shares the songs and stories which were pivotal to her musical journey, which began in the 60s, and continues to this day, while adding a touch of her own songwriting.

Her audiences love to sing along to songs like Downtown, What’d I Say, In the Still of the Night and many other familiar tunes that we all loved in the age of the transistor radio.

She is a member of Mike McKenna’s Rockin’ Redcoats – a rockabilly band, which performs songs of the 50’s and 60’s, and still is an active jazz chanteuse.
