After a sold out run, a new edition of the urban-immersive-interactive format The Stranger is back as a special presentation for SummerWorks 2015. As the lone audience member you will be thrust into a secret world. Follow ambiguous characters through streets, alleyways and undisclosed locations as the downtown transforms into an urban labyrinth. Expanded this year, with new interactions spanning several kilometres, The Stranger is a high-level interactive journey where you become the protagonist of your own odyssey. By engaging with various strangers you will gain clues in search of an answer to this enigmatic game blurring the lines between reality and fiction. Each performance is a completely unique experience where you will be invited to question your identity, the characters you meet and the landscape around you.

“If you’ve ever felt like taking part in a video game – not playing it, but being in it – The Stranger, a fascinating walkabout show about freedom and reinvention, will excite you." Jon Kaplan (NNNN- NOW MAGAZINE TORONTO)

Using a variety of art forms such as dance, street art, music, theatre and video, the core idea of the piece is to connect with audience members, helping them release their own creativity with the goal of becoming collaborators alongside the artists. The Stranger's objective is to define a new art form and erase the lines between artist and audience in an intimate act of creation.

Warning: Active audience participation, walking involved (sneakers or running shoes are suggested), please bring a fully charged mobile phone. Booking in advance is recommended. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your show time. This performance ends in a downtown location - please ensure that you allow enough time to get to your next performance.
